(Sorry this isn't fully flushed out but I'll get it out eventually)
This is the home where Riah lives. It's an old craftsman home. It's a 2 story home with a substantial root cellar, accessed from inside and outside the home. As you walk up to the house there are five steps leading to a wide porch that wrap around two walls of the house.
As you walk in the front door, the entryway is made of varying colors of wood trim and floors, it's wide but not hugely so. Ahead and to the right are the stairs to the second level and a hall to the left leading to the living room. To the immediate right is the Dining Room, with a door/hallway on the far left side that leads to the kitchen. The the immediate left of the entryway is the 'museum room' or others would call it the formal living room but it contains various antiques (chairs and otherwise) and old pictures of people and a working piano.
Down the hall, on the left is the powder room (with modern ammenities) but as you continue past the stairs is the Living Room. As you turn in room you see that it leads into the kitchen that has been updated through the years but still has some of it's original charms from when it was originally built.
Upstairs leads to a landing that opens to several rooms. A master bedroom/bathroom, a study/library, and a guest bedroom.

a museum room? cool!
Brynn,
This sounds a bit like my dream home. Very nicely done. A serene little hideaway.
And just so you know, you say, "fleshed out" to describe an unfinished work.
Here are just a few things that I though might need refinement.
"... a wide porch that wrap around two walls of the house."
• Does the porch extend across the front of the house, then wrap around both the left and the right sides, or does it cover the front, and one side of the house only?
"... the entryway is made of varying colors of wood trim and floors,"
• Floor tiles? Wood floors? This needs to be clarified, or described in more detail. What colors? (Or is it important?)
"... it's wide but not hugely so."
• Exact or near dimensions would better describe this space. Everyone who reads this is going to think of wide in different ways-- each reader will come into the story with their own experience. So I might think of wide as 20 ft., but someone else might think of wide as 35-40 ft. and not consider that huge at all.
Overall, a really delightful piece. This home is a bargain at any price. I too like the museum room, very clever. Every home should have one. Mine will.
the upstairs is rather blah, i assume this is because, as you said, you haven't hashed it out yet.... a library too? is this guy single?
upon re-reading, I think the second paragraph, 1st sentence, "the entryway is made of varying colors of wood trim and floors," might be a little smoother by moving the words around
"the entryway floors and trim are made of varying colors of wood,"
What do you think?

Thanks for the tips and suggestions. I will work on this some more and hopefully get it all hashed out.
