TOPIC: Establishing Setting.

Okay, so the next topic is being selected by me. It's important to know how to establish a good setting, so that's what this exercise will be about. Setting is about time, place, and circumstances. It could be as exotic as a faraway planet thousands of years in the future where the government has fallen, or it could be a simple grocery store down the street.

Setting isn't always important to a story, but it often helps in the writing process to have a firm grasp on what your setting is. Obviously, there are things that can happen on a faraway planet that simply couldn't in a simple local store. Really, the setting is like a character all it's own.

So write a detailed description of a setting you have in mind. Include location, time period, and specific circumstances related to the time and place. Have fun with it. Ja ne.
