TOPIC: Space Opera.
TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIME for the new topic. For years, I've always wanted to write a space opera (you know, like Star Trek, Star Wars, Star Ocean, StarCraft... pretty much anything starting with 'star'...). I know some of you don't like sci-fi as much as I do, and some of you don't even know the first thing about space travel, but now's the time to learn and like it! I'll leave this one fairly open, but it must be in space. No Earth, no alien planets. SPACE. It can be a short story, or an excerpt from a longer story, or whatever you like. Above all, enjoy it! Ja ne.

So everything either happens in the atmosphere or on a ship of sorts - right?

So, you want to write a space opera, citing several movies, shows and games. What you forget is that all of them take place in space, and on various planets' surfaces. You're limiting our writing to a ship and outer space. Why the distinction?
... in other words, why make it more complicated on those whose strength is no in writing 'space operas'.
Why not give them a little more flex-room? Make the assignment a bit simpler?
If you hadn't noticed, participation on the blog is not exactly breaking records. (Nothing personal guys.) The more complicated the topic is, I fear people are less likely to write on it. Simple is good.
Hey, I thought I was giving you guys a lot of flex-room, as you put it. My only condition was that it take place in outer space. That seems pretty simple to me.
I don't have a problem with it. Sci-fi is my second home. Its the people who don't do the whole sci-fi thing who I'm concerned for. If nobody else objects I don't have a problem with it.
Anyone?

I only wanted to clarify the
boundries of the storyline.This
is an area I am not close to.
I love the idea because it will
make me think outside of what I
personally am familiar with.
I am in full support of you all.
What you are doing is wonderful
and the stories are so vastly
different.
